Vinyl holds its shape through long, humid summers and needs no refinishing, which is why it does so well here. It does not rot, and it does not need paint to keep moisture out.
Heat is the one thing to plan around. A dark vinyl frame on a sunny south or west wall soaks up a great deal of sun and can distort. Makers limit which colors they will warrant on which walls, and that limit is worth reading before you choose.
The glass matters as much as the frame. Low-E glass (a thin, invisible coating that reflects heat) with argon gas sealed between the panes is the practical baseline here. On west walls that take full afternoon sun, the coating choice does more for comfort than anything else.
